If you're graduating in December or May, we have SWE cords available. If you've been active in the club this semester (attended 3+ of our 8 events), email Lem266 about a discounted or free cord. Otherwise, they are $5 and you should contact the Undergrad SWE Fundraising Directors at Anp48 and Jr853.

We really are an active club...

Just not an active blogger. This semester we've held a bake sale for hurricane victims, participated in a blood drive, hosted a professional development talk going over the career resources available to students at Cornell, decorated pumpkins, held a Friends-giving potluck, helped undergrads by proof reading and editing their grad school applications, crocheted pocket pals for local cancer patients, and will be decorating winter holiday cookies on 12/14 from 1-4 in the Duffield Atrium.

Welcome to Cornell Grad SWE!

Welcome to Cornell's chapter of Graduate Society of Women Engineers (SWE). This club creates a community for graduate women and allies to develop professional networks and skills, socialize, and grow through volunteerism. While this club has been very active, this blog has been on sabbatical. If you're interested in joining or have feedback, please contact Laura, the new 2017-2018 Director, at lem266. 

GradSWE Spring Kick-Off Meeting

We will be discussing an improvement on our current structure to get more people involved and need your help. We have many events planned for this semester, but we are always looking for more suggestions. Currently, the events we have planned are:

2. Speed Mentoring (March)
3. Grant Writing Workshop (March/Apr)
4. Madeleine Dessert Nights (ongoing)

Negotiations Seminar with Erica Dawson

When: Thursday, February 14th (11:45-1PM)

Graduate Society of Women Engineers and CBE Women invite you to a negotiations seminar with Erica Dawson. With the spring career fair fresh in your mind, this seminar will cover negotiation strategies that are necessary for professional advancement through all stages of one's career. This will include a Q&A session.

Featured Speaker: Erica (Ph.D. '04, Cornell University) is the college’s first director of Engineering Leadership. Previously, she served as the director of the Program on Organizational and Executive Ethics at the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was also an assistant professor at the Yale School of Management and was a visiting faculty member at Cornell’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management.

*Priority given to CBE women until February 5. This event is invite and RSVP only. We will email you for lunch orders.

GradSWE Holiday Cookie and Card Decorating

When: Friday, December 7th (4:30-6:30PM) in Weill 226
Who: Graduate and Professional Students*

Join the Graduate Society of Women Engineers (GradSWE) in decorating holiday cookies and cards. Take a break from research and studying for some warm spiced wine, cider and snacks. Learn more about how to get involved with GradSWE next semester.

*This event will only be open to graduate and professional students, since we will be serving alcohol. Please bring a government-issued ID to this event.

October General Meeting

GradSWE Undergraduate Mentoring Program

GradSWE is hosting an undergraduate mentoring program for juniors and seniors applying to graduate school! We remember how stressful it is to apply, and we'd love to help you navigate through the process based on our experience.

We will be holding late afternoon teas once a month to discuss a number of different topics including Writing Effective Personal Statements, Communicating Your Research and Research Interests, and What to Look for on Campus Visits/Interviews. 

Our first event will be on Oct. 24th, from 4:30-5:30 PM, place TBA. Refreshments will be served.
